The first two weeks of this unit were filled with lectures and short talks by each if the organisations working with Unit X College One (Pass It On). I've always had a view that I will go on to do a PGCE in Primary Education after my degree, so naturally I chose the Primary School option for this unit.
We have also taken part in a number of workshops whilst making our decisions on options. Some were more relelvant than others to Primary School children. I really enjoyed the suffolk puff workshop, and have since made a lot of my own suffolk puffs and have accumilated a few ideas to include this in my own future work, however I don't think that it is age appropriate with small children as the needles could be a health a safety issue and they could find the technique a bit difficult.
Another workshop consisted of us being split into small groups and building a totum pole out of basic art and craft materials fitting with a theme from a list given to us. This workshop could be easily transferrable to young pupils at a primary school and the materials used could be controlled/monitored by the person running the workshop to make sure that no sharp objects for example were included.
As of yet my group (northendon primary school group) have not heard what we will be doing with the primary school... I am excited to find out.
